Dfinity Foundation Set To Unlock Smart Contracts On Bitcoin, Advancing Further Into Ethereum’s Orbit

A longa espera Bitcoin’s smart contracts could soon change after the Dfinity foundation disclosed an elaborate plan which will see a BTC-ICP direct integration, ushering Bitcoin into the smart contracts era.

Integrando BTC con Internet Computer (ICP)

According to a recent announcement by the developer, the project which comprises three stages is partially complete with stage one, which seeks to unlock smart contracts on Bitcoin ready to hit mainnet.

Segundo a revelación, a primeira fase consistirá na incorporación do Algoritmo de sinatura dixital de curva elíptica (ECDSA) na rede, que permitirá aos usuarios verificar as transaccións. ECDSA é un algoritmo criptográfico, denominado frecuentemente como clave privada, clave pública ou "a sinatura" e ofrece a seguridade necesaria para garantir que os fondos só poidan ser gastados polo propietario lexítimo unha vez que os contratos intelixentes entren en funcionamento.

A segunda fase implicará colocar o nodo ICP-BTC na rede de proba antes de proceder á integración total.

Eliminación de Pontes Externas

Segundo o fundador de Dfinity, Dominic Williams, a diferenza das obras de ponte tradicionais que usan unha parte independente de confianza para realizar transaccións, aumentando os riscos de seguridade, as integracións directas de ICP permitirán transaccións directas entre contratos intelixentes na cadea de bloques.

"Por exemplo, se queres mover as fichas ERC-20 a Avalanche, enviarasllas a un operador de ponte e este emitirá versións envolventes do token". el di, "pero hai algúns problemas con este enfoque: confías na seguridade do provedor da ponte".

Abordando como Internet Computer (ICP) cambia todo isto, o científico xefe engade: “What’s different here is that you can send Bitcoin directly to smart contracts on the ICP.” He further notes that when those smart contracts on the ICP send Bitcoin to other smart contracts, they move on the Bitcoin blockchain, eliminating the need for external bridges.

Until recently, executing smart contracts on the blockchain had been a grueling process given Bitcoin’s hard smart contract scripting language. More smart contracts are now expected to roll out using the ICP-BTC integration joining the likes of the Lightning Network.

Os contratos intelixentes de Taproot

En novembro do ano pasado, o Taproot upgrade went live on the bitcoin’s mainnet in a watershed moment that was expected to boost the network’s smart contract capability and privacy.

Whereas experts have argued that “greater expressive abilities” on layer 1 are not a priority given that “Smart contracts are spending decisions between a group of participants who value privacy,” Taproot is expected to boost the programmability of Bitcoin transactions to support expressive contracts.
