Jimmy Song e Samson Mow vs. Vitalik Buterin, Battle Royale Al LABITCONF

The fact that Jimmy Song and Samson Mow were in the same bill as Vitalik Buterin was interesting enough, but the actual panel was the equivalent of an atomic bomb blowing the stage up. What started as a discussion about the FTX collapse and saga, turned into a heated debate about bitcoin Vs. Ethereum pretty quickly. It was a spectacle. And Song and Mow ensembled into some kind of bitcoin killing machine right before our eyes. 

Cominciamo dall'inizio, però. 

Besides the already mentioned characters, Ripio’s Juan Llanos and Kraken’s Alejandro Palantzas completed the panel. The moderators were Rodolfo Andragnes and Diego Gutiérrez Zaldívar, Co-founder of the Bitcoin Argentina NGO. At first, Llanos tried to explain the FTX saga in a polite way. It was a stressful situation and mistakes were made, he said. However, Samson Mow wasn’t having it. “The main problem is that they built their business on a sh*tcoin,” he said. Vitalik laughed. Everything was fine.

Secondo Mow, “questo non aveva nulla a che fare con le autorità di regolamentazione. FTX era profondamente a letto con i regolatori ", il che è un punto fenomenale. Sam Bankman-Fried è stato il volto di risucchiare il governo per rendere l'intera industria delle criptovalute più favorevole alle autorità di regolamentazione. Dove si trova ora quel movimento? Successivamente, Jimmy Song è andato ancora più in alto e ha detto che sì, è successo tutto, ma il vero problema è l'uso di servizi centralizzati come custodi. Come dice il vecchio adagio: non le tue chiavi, non le tue monete.

Finally, it was Vitalik’s turn. He criticized Bankman-Fried’s megalomania and compared the FTX billboards and the stadium naming to the behavior of dictators from the last century. Vitalik explained how the FTT racket worked, and Samson Mow dropped the bomb. Mow said that a lot of what Vitalik was saying also applies to Ethereum and all hell broke loose.

Il moderatore, Diego Gutiérrez Zaldívar, ha cercato di mantenere l'attenzione su FTX ma non ci è riuscito. Il gatto era fuori dal sacco. Gutiérrez Zaldívar ha chiesto a Samson Mow la definizione di "sh*tcoin" e l'ex Blockstream ha appena descritto Ethereum e il suo funzionamento mentre Vitalik osservava incredulo. "Il problema con gli sh * tcoin è che fingono di essere decentralizzati mentre sono in esecuzione su Amazon, per lo più, e nessuno può eseguire un nodo."

Secondo Jimmy Song, la vera lezione del crollo dell'FTX è stata che le persone devono auto-custodire e verificare le proprie transazioni, punto. Song ha criticato la cultura Altcoin di fidarsi e non verificare. “Devi imparare a verificare le tue cose, e se non impari quella lezione, finirai distrutto. È solo una questione di tempo."

Since it was two against one, Gutiérrez Zaldívar took it upon himself to protect Vitalik and Ethereum. He didn’t do a very good job. He gave Alejandro Palantzas the word and Palantzas said there’s a reason companies like Kraken and Coinbase are still in business 10 years later. They have resisted the temptation to print their own token or “sh*tcoin,” and “they didn’t do it because it’s morally wrong.” According to Palantzas, all the scammers in the space don’t understand what bitcoin davvero è. Bitcoin “is freedom, it’s liberty.”

Mow confronta il mondo Altcoin con un casinò

When Samson Mow defined “sh*tcoins,” he said that they advertised themself as decentralized when they had an obvious issuer. Vitalik challenged him asking if Satoshi was bitcoin’s issuer. Mow responded that what Satoshi did was set up a number of rules that a lot of people followed, which is not the same as being a central issuer. Neither Mow nor Song stated the obvious, that Satoshi is not among us while Vitalik and other altcoin CEOs are. And their influence over the protocols they preside over is immense. 

Vitalik ha avuto il suo più grande successo della serata mentre parlava di rendere l'auto-custodia conveniente per le persone normali. Ha seguito la strada del gradimento della folla e ha detto che l'intero settore dovrebbe lavorare insieme per far sì che ciò accada, e il pubblico è esploso. A ciò, Vitalik ha risposto che non si fida nemmeno di Vitalik con i suoi soldi e ha spiegato la configurazione del suo portafoglio multi-sig 4/6. Il che era divertente, ma eludeva la vera domanda. È al centro di Ethereum o no?

Per concludere il panel imbarazzante ma estremamente divertente, Gutiérrez Zaldívar ha chiuso con il suo più grande successo della serata. Ha detto che le domande aperte rimangono per tutti a cui pensare, "perché non abbiamo la verità, stiamo solo condividendo il nostro modo di pensare".
